How To Get 300 People To Pay You $30/Month To Teach Them About Something You Love.

Learn a few simple strategies that can triple the lifetime value of your members by reducing attrition, increasing your sites perceived value, and turning your members into evangelists.

Dear Friend,

I want to tell you a little story about a guy who’s been making 6 figures a year from online membership sites since 2005.

Okay, it’s a story about me.

One day, way back in late 2004, I was on my way to a job I hated. I mean, I honestly thought that staring at a cubicle wall for even another week would drive me insane.

So while I was trapped in my car, I had one of those ideas we’ve all had in the past. I’d heard a radio DJ announce that there were over a billion people online, and I thought to myself, “If I could get even a few hundred of those people to pay me a few bucks a month, I’d be set.”

And you know what? I did it.

I launched a site and got 300 people to pay $30 per month for access.

But that’s not really remarkable – after all, plenty of membership sites get launched every day.

No, what was remarkable was that not only did I create a membership site, I created a community that people were glad to be a part of.

I created a site that kept members for years, not for weeks.

It wasn’t until years later that I would realize that the ‘average’ membership site only kept members for 3 months, while mine was keeping people paying for over 40 MONTHS, with many members staying even longer.

For the past year, I’ve been working with membership site owners to help them dramatically improve their sites. I’ve become something of an authority in the field, especially in the areas of community building and retention.

I’ve taken the knowledge that I’ve used for the past 7 years to run my membership sites, as well as the knowledge that I’ve gained from working with my private clients to optimize their sites, and packed it all into a single course –the Membership Black Box.

This course is designed to show you how you can take any special knowledge, skill, or passion for a hobby or topic, and create a site where people are willing to pay you each month for access to it.

So What Exactly Is The Membership Black Box?

It’s an online training course done 3 ways.

Part 1: Core Information

The first part is course itself. I’ve put together 6 training modules that encompass the most important parts of creating and optimizing membership sites. Unlike the kind of Internet marketers that I think we all get sickened by, I’m not going to pretend that the course will teach you everything you need to know to make a billion dollars overnight by hitting the magic Internet money button.

What I will tell you is that this is the distillation of the strategy that I’ve used to run my successful sites, and that I’ve helped others create to run their sites. This product doesn’t have everything I’ve learned, but it does contain the most important things, and they’re laid out in a sequence that makes them easy to follow and apply.

Part 2: Live Q&A

Along with the training, I’m going to be doing a live Q&A to augment all of the material. During these, I’ll be taking questions, expanding on topics, giving current examples of where the strategies I discuss are working (and not working), and if there’s enough interest, I’ll even do some live site review / critiques so that you can see how to implement these tactics to your site immediately.

Part 3: Ongoing Community & Support

In addition to the material and the Q&A sessions (which will be considered pre-requisite knowledge), I’m going to be operating a membership site based around the principles I’m teaching. The site will act as an extension both of the course, with novel content added to continue learning, and even more importantly, it acts as a place for you to share the experience of other site owners and have direct access to me. I’ll be participating heavily, answering questions, doing site reviews, and in general giving as much of my expertise as I can.

What Can I Expect To Learn

The course content is going to be delivered in six core modules.

  • Introduction Module – In this module, I’m going to introduce you to the broad themes of the course, as well as introduce some of the most important core concepts of running membership sites. You’ll find that a lot of ‘common sense’ is wrong, but also that a lot of what makes a really successful site is simple. The trick is knowing what simple things to focus on.
  • Module 1 – Getting Started – This module is primarily for those who aren’t already running a site, and will help guide you through the process of picking your site topic, generating traffic, setting up a first month content generation plan, and teach you how demonstrate your credibility to prospective members, so they’re comfortable being led by you (ie. don’t worry if you’re not one of the 5 leading experts in the world in your area – we’ll show why a passion for your niche & your experiences in it so far are almost always more than you’ll need to get started with your membership site!).
There will also be some valuable information in here for those already running sites, as I’ll be discussing the importance of shaping your community culture and norms early, and what you need to be aware of when leading a community to ensure that your members get the most value from it.
  • Module 2 – Introduction to Character for Membership Sites – I devote this full module to a discussion of Character as it relates to membership sites, and how to craft and express your character in a way that serves your site and your members. I’m going to show you why it’s so important to understand the values that your site runs on, as well as how to write copy in a way that helps you connect with existing and potential members. Since copywriting is an area where most people flounder, learning the simple method that I’ll teach should make it easier for you to communicate effectively with your list.
  • Module 3 – Content and Community – (The Lifeblood of your site) In this module, I’m going to expand on the topics of Content and Community, the other C’s in my “3C” model of membership sites. Specifically, we’ll look at why more content doesn’t always equal happier members, how to establish and change the rules/feel of your community (hint: it’s always easier to establish than change!), look at the core structural elements of a membership site designed for success, and how to pick and keep an eye on moderators once your site gets busier than you can handle.
  • Module 4 & 5 – Retention I & 2 – Why People Leave and How to Keep Them – This is such an important topic that I wanted to make sure I gave it sufficient time, and to do that I had to devote two full modules to it. We’re going to look at why people join your site, why they leave it, how to anticipate attrition & stop it preemptively, how to deal with influxes of new members.
  • Module 6 – Odds & Ends – There are a lot of areas in running a membership site that don’t fit neatly into the categories I’ve outlined, so this module is a hodge-podge of ideas, observations, philosophies, and specific tactics that I’ve found to be invaluable in both my own sites and the sites of my clients.

How Will The Course Be Delivered?

The course will be delivered over a period of 6 weeks. Each week you’ll get access to a new module.

If you already run a membership site, this will give you time to plan to dramatically increase your retention, improve your relationships with members, and re-structure your site in a way that makes it more valuable for every member (new and existing).

If you’re just realizing that you should be running a membership site, this delivery plan will help you build your site from scratch and include all the right elements from the start.

Now I now you’re wondering…”Noah, can’t I just have the whole course up front?”

Here’s the thing… You and I both know that if the course is just given up front then there’s a good chance it’s just going to gather dust and grow some nice blue cheese mold. My goal is to help you consume the content in the way it’s been created to be consumed. This is being done so you can best take this content and succeed. YES – We actually expect you to get results from our content. We actually expect you to use it….

How much is it?

The cost of the course is $497, which includes enrolment in the live Q&A’s as well as free access to the members area for the duration of the course (once the course is completed, the members area is a steal at $37/month – of course you are under no obligation to remain a member but I know you’ll want to).

As I’m sure you know, I’m following what I call an ‘Anti-Launch’ for my new Membership Black Box program. That means that you haven’t been subjected to the tired & expected tricks of most launches . You know what I’m talking about… “Server failures” to demonstrate social proof, huge affiliate structures, ‘leaked’ content, ‘Buy it now or you’ll never get it!’ scarcity, etc.

It’s those last points I wanted to talk about today – Artificial scarcity is one of the most tried and true tricks of the typical IMer who’s not interested in developing a relationship with you. It goes something like this: “If you don’t buy it right this SECOND, it’s going to disappear off the face of the planet, and only your competitors will have these secrets that will let them bury you. Don’t let them get it, buy NOW, NOW, NOW, cause once it’s gone, it’s never coming back!”

And we all know that’s ridiculous.

The Membership Black Box isn’t going anywhere. I know the content is great, and I know that it will still be great in a year. When I was originally planning the course, I thought that it easily merited a $2k or more price tag, and thought that it would be a steal at $1k (where the price will eventually be).

I want to get a vibrant community up and running using this material quickly though, so I’m making it as easy as possible to get in early. That’s why I’m offering it at $497 starting today and through the end of March.

These price raises aren’t arbitrary – I know the course is worth far more than even the $2k I originally considered selling it for, but I also want to make sure that everybody who’s signed up to my mailing list had a chance to get in early and be a part of a fantastic community from the start.

Those who sign up now will not only get the best price, they’ll also get the most access to me in the forums. It’s the best way I can think of to thank those who sign up early.

This isn’t artificial scarcity – If ten people or 10,000 people sign up before the end of March they’ll be able to purchase the course for $497.

I’m Ready To Join The Black Box

Great! To sign up all you need to do is click the checkout button below. Here’s a few things you’re going to notice.

First, the course cost is $497 (a total steal) – you’ll see when checking out that after three months the community fee of $37 per month will kick in. This is absolutely not mandatory but PayPal requires us to set up the checkout button in that way. For $497 you’ll have access to the entire course and the community, as well as the Q&A Calls until the course has been completed. At that time, you can make a decision if continued access to the community would be beneficial (and I know it will be).

If you’re ready to join the Black Box and start building your membership, please checkout using the link below.

Cheers

Noah
